At times windows take hell lot of time to start or to shutdown. You are getting frustrated why it is happening but have no idea how to know about the reason. Well here is a registry hack which will tell you what windows was doing that took so long to start or shutdown…

By this registry hack you can get detailed information of what windows is doing during startup, Shutdown, Login or logoff. Activating this will slow down the windows further but as this shows detailed information about what it doing it will be good for troubleshooting purpose. It can also be handy for tuning so if you see any application or file takinga lot of time to load during startup you can remove that from startup. If it is a service you can set it to start in delayed mode (vista only).

Is My Window Infected Even Before I Started Using it

Well you are a new Windows User or old but you must have heard of Trojans, Viruses, and malwares. Those little nasty programs which resides in your system and send your private information to all hackers around the world, and compromises your security. So you installed anti Virus and Anti spyware to stay away from these. But what if they exist in your system even before you installed Antivirus, or they came with windows itself. In that case your antivirus can’t do anything because malwares exist in system before they came and can infect those programs itself.

How and From where Malware Came

Now Question is how the hell my windows got infected before I installed Antivirus? I freshly downloaded an ISO file containing Windows setup and installed it and then first thing I did was installing antivirus… But yes still your window is infected… How??

AntiVirus can prevent you from Virus, Trojan or Malwares only if your copy of windows is clean of those infections before installing antivirus. This is because of fact that These nasty programs are designed in such a way that if they successfully load themselves in a clean machine they prevent antivirus functioning. More important if they exist before installation of anti virus, they will embed with antivirus in such a way that antivirus will not be able to recognize them.

Well this is possible if you downloaded your Windows setup from a source which is not trusted like Torrents, LimeWire, Kazaa or any other peer-to-peer file sharing applications. Now as we know from where we get infection but how and Why??

Banish Spam, Scams And Pop-Ups In Windows

As mentioned elsewhere, prevention is often the best way of tackling many problems, and this is particularly the case when it comes to issues on computer security.

Pop-up windows that appear without warning can be evidence of spyware, while junk email that advertises all manner of nonsense can be offensive. Spam, as it is called, can be dangerous, too, as many such emails attempt to trick you into visiting websites used for fraudulent purposes. For example, they may pretend to be from your online bank or eBay, asking you to ‘confirm’ personal data such as your account number and password – a crime known as ‘phishing’.

Don’t worry, though; using Windows built-in defenses it’s easy to set up your PC against spam, pop-ups and scammers. This article will show you how.

Tip 1 – Most of Window defenses against the threats I have mentioned are switched on by default, but there’s no harm in checking. We’ll start with the anti-spam tool in Windows Mail, which is the new name for the built-in Windows email program that was called Outlook Express in XP. Open the program in the Start menu bar at the top of the screen. Select Junk E-mail Options from the list that appears. The main Options tab displays the program’s basic filters. The first option gives you the means of disabling all spam filtering – I don’t recommend this. The option set by default is Low, which filters out obvious junk mail with subject lines such as ‘free Viagra’ and moves it into the Junk E-mail folder.
